The Red Hot Chili Peppers seem to have been filled with inspiration when new addition Josh Klinghoffer joined the band on guitar. Taking a year to write new material for their album ‘I’m With You’(released in August 2011). During the writing process they wrote more material than they released on ‘I’m With You’, leaving 18 B-sides on the cutting room floor. So, the Red Hot Chili Peppers decided over the next six months they would release nine pairs of singles from the ‘I’m With You’ sessions. “Strange Man” and “Long Progression” are the first of the nine pairs of singles that were released in early August. “Strange Man” is a fresh little pop tune with a flowing groove vibe. By far, my favorite of the two songs. Earthly eccentric guitar with some beautiful backing vocals from Klinghoffer. Include a fun scat from front-man Anthony Keidis, something he is known for. “Long Progression” is a very uptempo funk number with raw and experimental guitar. Proving Klinghoffer has settled in perfectly with the Chili Peppers bringing a new spirit. Maybe now fans will stop comparing him to John Fracante (previous RHCP guitarist). Both songs could of fit perfectly on ‘I’m With You’. These first two singles are just a taste of what’s to come over the next few months. I think fans will be on the edge of their seats waiting for the next two songs to be released. 5 Out Of 5 Stars
